to make a short story,

Shoxy (your old B3 leader) started a little business were he makes live movie of competition of gaming on some games (ex: CSS) he gets alot of people for it to watch, and got some. Compagnie started giving the IGL team money to have their publicity around it and they start giving prize to player
An other exemple, they gave around 3500$ to CSS players last year, by winning tournement etc.
They also started giving CD's of jka to the winner with the movie for diffrent game.
And since like 3 days, jka will officially be brought to this league.

Thing that i love about this league tho is the new programme they creat for it (they are testing it right now, and will be ready in like 1 or 2 week) this will be an anti-hack. To play on their IGL servers (there will be about 3 IGL servers comming up) youll need to have this programme running. It will lock down anybody that use weird cfg, will take ss of cfg, and will auto lock server to known existing hax as timenudge, pingtracker etc.

IF you want me to go deeper in the league thing.
Next year (2011) will be a test year, were they will try a schedule fighting style, 1v1, 2v2 , 3v3 for 4 month then the playoff for 2 months, then restart all that for the next 6. After that change will probly change to fit the best way to play etc.

So yeah, the idea got brought some months ago, everybody lol'ed at it, but now its gonna actually start. Its not meaning that it will wrok tho, but am willing to give it a try.
For that matter i start playing again, not alot but enoght to get some of my skills back, and to not be completly useless.

You didn't explain it well at all actually, lmao.

We're essentially a prime competitor for ESL in North America (nationalesl). We're redefining the way gaming leagues approach players and are also investing time, effort and money (our money -- nobody gave us anything) to create media for our competitors to enjoy (through livestreams).

Check out facebook.com/playigl if you want information as it comes. We're not ready yet (definitely not one-two weeks) and we're tweaking the Anti-Cheat. One thing I can tell you for sure is that the project is a reality and that it will be launching circa January 2012.

Can't give you more details than that for now. Smile

tbh people should just be thankful that there are groups attempting to keep this game alive. Who cares about single/dual/staff- just play the game and enjoy it while it's still active.

+1 to shoxy for going through the trouble of getting this going.

Also, what is this anti-cheat? And will it be used on JKA? If so, please make it cross platform.

This anti-cheat is for jka,
if i understand it well

youll have to download a thing and run it while been on jka, if you dont youll not be abble to join the server, also this thing will auto kick/ban people that use the known hax, as timenudge, pingblahblah, etc etc (i dont know any). Had it will also ss the cfg of every player into server and score it elsewhere so we can check if something new come in.
Wall hack and other will also be tracked.

I will only join this if this anti cheat thing actually works and if there is a single only ladder, I left the 1o1 ladder in esl because of constant staff/dual mubs who think they are amazing and I have no time for it atm, they don't bother me as much in 2v2 or 3v3 but 1v1 is just boring/chase the staffer who runs and waits after 1 frag.

Because wallhacks, aimbots, and kill trackers are so useful/popular in saber-only JKA right? Wink

If they're stupid enough to try using any hacks in TFFA then they'll probably just be an easy win anyway. It's only CTF where there can be problems. The simple solution to all this could be to just use a pure League Mod server, but I'm sure the thought of using a non-base mod would be frightening for most people in the TFFA/basejka community.

Edit: For the single-only stuff, there *is* my mod which prevents the use of dual and staff :>

Some twik the dmg they do
Some help their deflection
Some do opposite, if you want less deflection... etc

Sorry I haven't checked back to answer any questions...

We'll be launching the league with four games: CS:S, BF3, Call of Duty (which COD title depends on how MW3 does) and JA. I have to stress that JA is and will remain, at least for one year, a marketing research experiment. The first objective we have for JA is to observe how players from traditional FPS games (CS, COD and so on) react to a game that is put on a similar pedestal to theirs, but plays radically differently (but interesting nonetheless). The idea here is that if CSS players can enjoy $2,500 prize pot in CSS and another $2,500 in JA, there is a good chance they will at least dip their toes into it, and take a look. From that point on, we know how addictive JA can be. Obviously, if we can't attract enough old JA players, we simply won't do a second season. We investing a good little sum into this first JA season, and I personally would love to see it through as a late eSport (like CS 1.6 was). Please don't be pessimistic about the game. It has potential, it has enough players, and definitely has the passion to keep things going. By introducing cash prizes in these competitions, old players are much more prone to come back and make use of the 5+ years they have played the game, to justify it and make some coin in the process.

Regarding competition, all of the games we will support will have three main competition types: circuits, ladders and tournaments.

Circuits are essentially seasons. Just like in the NHL/NFL/NBA/etc, we will be accepting team signups for one month, then closing team signups (but not player signups into available teams) and generating a 16 week schedule. After the four months, the top 8/16 (depending on total size) teams will be ported into playoffs, which will last 4 more weeks. Unlike some other leagues who pay the top 3, we will be paying the top 8. The top teams get less money, but more teams make money, thereby promoting eSports growth as a legitimate, salary-viable sport. The Season 1 JA circuit will be of 3v3 format.

As well, we will be offering ESL-type ladders for players/teams to challenge each other at will. We will be launching with a 2v2 and 1v1 ladder. We will not be restricting any weapon types in season 1's ladder. We may introduce additional ladders, depending on activity, but do not expect to have 8 JA ladders for 100 players. Doesn't make sense.

Finally, in the off-season we will offer tournament services, with cash and/or hardware prizes for the winners. This will allow people to keep busy while the new season is on its way (in the interim).

The purpose of our anti-cheat is to work with source games first and foremost. The only thing it will do for JA is look for obvious Q3 hacks (a cakewalk) but most importantly monitor CFG files for malicious commands. The software will NOT automatically ban players. It is designed to report players, which can then be contacted by administrators.
