+ strong acting with the likes of Denzel Washington (need I say more?)
+ at first, the plot seems retarded, but develops into something more interesting as it goes along
+ good job by Scott to develop a sense of care for the central characters and the town population
- slow to get going
- if you don't see past the train plot, you miss the movie's emotion
