It all started on a spooky night. Elm rescued the egg from the evil bird mother and started raising it as his own. The next day, he left the camp to scavenge some berries and carrots to continue making his delicious meatballs. Unknowing of the consequences, the egg disappeared on return to the camp. No one will know what occurred during Elm's absence...perhaps some wild animal ate the egg before it hatched; perhaps the pig next door ate it for breakfast; perhaps the mother came back and took it back; or even perhaps the egg hatched and the baby bird fleed the scene and is now either dead or growing...any way you put it...Elm lost a friend that day. ;(
Having lost his friend, Elm continues his survival - eating meatballs and bunny jerky day and night - yet somehow not getting tired of it. Elm sleeps helplessly as he continues thinking about his beloved...no man should witness his child's death or disappearance... ;( Elm adds safety to his base with the construction of the lightning rod to absorb any potential strikes aimed at him. The Fall continues on.
On day 14, Elm meets the pig next door for the first time and feeds him some rabbit jerky. Who knew a pig would be carnivorous!? Elm proceeds to question the pig if he had seen his baby bird in the past couple of days. The pig replied emphatically, "no way jose! oink!" Elm puts his trust into the pig...although will remain very skeptical of his actions in the proceeding days.
Later that night, the pig decides to accompany Elm in a tribe dance and the two of them party the night away eating rabbit jerky...but no drinks...(still don't understand how this world functions without humans/animals consuming any sort of liquids). Perhaps that will be revealed in the finale.
Day 21...Winter has arrived and so have other unexpected guests! Elm was in the middle of doing his daily chores of trap replacements when a group of uninvited penguins arrived on the scene! Elm quickly scanned every penguin to check if there was any resemblance to what his baby bird would have grown into...but alas was disappointed yet again. With his beard in full form, Elm was ready to survive this winter...whether nature liked it or not.
Elm went back to his daily routine as if nothing had happened...until...
he found the penguins again but this time....they were laying eggs!! or they stole them!! Is this somehow connected to Elm losing his egg while away at the camp? Did the penguins arrive earlier and thief his egg to raise as their own? Will Elm take an egg from them out of spite and raise it as a penguin killer?! Find out in the next episode of Elm - The Lone Survivor.
